Flattery and Folly

There are many different versions
but in spite of what you've heard
the fox was not a deceiver
nor Raven a foolish bird

The fox long admired the raven
and wishing to hear his song
she praised the ravens piercing eyes
and his wings so black and strong

it wasn't the flattery of the fox
or the folly of the raven
but the raven shared his morsel
moved by her pure affection
